Today's kickstart on your daughters in the NICU, really struck a chord with me. I experienced the same feeling. Our daughter was born at 24 weeks and weighed in at just 15.6 ounces. While the smallest in the NICU, over the course of the next 4 months that she remained there, all you had to do was to look around and see what other families were dealing with to make you appreciated how well she was doing.
As you mentioned, babies who were literally 10x her size were not surviving, there were babies who had no chance of survival, or those who did that their future looked pretty bleak. For us we always had hope (we named her Hope) and never gave up that dream of her growing up normally.
Today, I am happy to report, she is 11 years old, and healthy and strong. Having known that 11 years ago, would have saved us a lot of stress and heartache, but the experience made us stronger, made our faith stronger, and now, wouldn't have changed that for anything.
So as I struggle with the day to day issues, which seem so small in comparison, I remember the journey we have been on, and how we perservered and try not to sweat the small stuff and just move forward in hope and in faith.
